Dr. Camille Rousseau and Dr. Laura Quintero Silva present at the CACPR conference in Calgary!
EMBRACING THE FUTURE OF CARDIAC REHABILITATION
This May, Dr. Camille Rousseau and Dr. Laura Silva presented their posters at the 2025 Canadian Association of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (CACPR) Spring Conference in Calgary, AB.
Dr. Rousseau presented results from a survey conducted as part of the COVID-19 Wide Impact Research project, which examined attitudes, beliefs, and behaviours related to hypertension. The study explored gender differences in individuals’ perceptions and health practices concerning hypertension risk and management. The results provide preliminary evidence that the understanding of and engagement in hypertension prevention and control may differ based on gender identity.
Dr. Silva presented findings of a qualitative study using focus groups with parents within the YOUNG HEARTS project. This study explored the key concerns and uncertainties of parents when adjusting to an early-onset cardiovascular disease.
“The 2025 conference theme, ‘Embracing the Future of Cardiac Rehabilitation: From Science to Practice’ was inspired by the opportunities for cardiac rehabilitation to increase its impact while confronted with a rapidly evolving world: the proliferation of new technologies, widespread health disparities, the climate crisis, and resource constraints for cardiovascular healthcare in Canada.”
